FAQ

Q: Do I need to assemble the furniture myself, and is there an assembly manual included with the furniture?

A: Yes, you will need to assemble our furniture yourself with a detailed assembly manual. We can also send you such instructions via email if needed.

Q: What kind of finish is used for the beds?

A: We use a certified finish, either satin clear lacquer or white lacquer, which is also approved for bedroom use. Solid wood furniture made from pine cannot be painted in an opaque white finish. This type of finish is referred to as "wash white," where knots and dark rings in the wood grain are visible. Natural elements in the wood cause knots to become more pronounced over time.

Q: Is delivery within Germany free of charge?

A: We offer free delivery within mainland Germany. For deliveries to German islands, there may be an additional "island surcharge" determined by the island couriers. Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to foreign islands.

Q: How can I track my shipment?

A: Items with a delivery time of 1-3 working days are shipped via GLS. On the day of shipment, GLS will send you an email with tracking information and your parcel number. If you have ordered items for delivery by freight, we will arrange for a freight company to contact you to schedule a fixed delivery date. Please note that we only deliver freight items within mainland Germany.

Q: What is the delivery time?

A: The delivery time varies depending on the item. Most items are in stock and can be shipped immediately upon receipt of payment. Some items are made to order and may take a bit longer. You can find information on the delivery time for each item. If you have any questions, we are also available by phone.

Q: How does the return process work if I want to exercise my statutory right of withdrawal?

A: In such a case, we ask customers to contact us to receive free return labels. You can then return the packaged item to the nearest GLS shop. With the provided labels, the GLS shop will send the items back to us at no cost to you.

Q: What happens if I'm not at home when the GLS courier arrives?

A: GLS typically makes a delivery attempt. If the customer is not available at that time, the packages will be stored at the nearest GLS shop, and the customer can pick them up from there.

Q: How much weight can a solid wood bed support?

A: This varies from model to model. We strive to provide solid, stable furniture with appealing designs. However, it's important to note that wood is a natural material that can break under heavy force. In our range, we also have furniture designed for higher weight capacities and commercial use. Feel free to contact us by phone for personalized advice.

Q: How can I get assistance and who can help with complaints?

A: We offer the best assistance over the phone. You can reach us at 08503-9245410, Monday to Thursday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, and Fridays between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm. For complaints, please contact us directly via email at: auftrag@erst-holz.de. Please include photos of the damage, the item number according to the assembly manual, your name, phone number, and ideally your order ID. We will work to find a solution.

Q: Can someone come to my home to assemble the furniture for me?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot offer assembly services as our products are delivered through logistics service providers and not by our company's staff. The furniture is prepared for easy assembly and comes with assembly instructions. However, we are available by phone to assist with any questions or uncertainties.

Q: Does solid wood darken over time?

A: Color changes are a natural process in solid wood. Dark wood tends to lighten over time and with exposure to sunlight, while light wood can darken when exposed to sunlight. Softwoods (such as pine or fir) tend to change color more rapidly. Preventing color changes can be achieved by protecting the furniture from direct sunlight. Wood is a living material that reacts to various influences, but that's what gives solid wood its cozy and charming appeal.

Q: How should I care for the furniture?

A: For our lacquered pine and beech furniture, a microfiber cloth or a slightly damp cloth is sufficient for dusting. We also offer beds, nightstands, and bed boxes in oiled beech and oak. These pieces should be periodically re-oiled with wood oil to protect and maintain their appearance.

Q: How do the furniture pieces change with exposure to sunlight?

A: Wood is a living and beautiful material that undergoes natural changes throughout its lifetime. Even after processing and finishing, furniture pieces can change due to various influences, including heat, cold, humidity, sunlight, and regular use. Natural discolorations may occur, with darkening or heightened wood grain patterns in some cases. Knots in the wood may darken or create yellowish spots in white-painted wood. While wood can develop dents and scratches from mechanical forces, it remains resilient and enduring, retaining its attractive qualities. Unlike laminated chipboard furniture, solid wood furniture retains its charm and value over time, often finding new homes on the secondhand market and being repurposed with different knobs and handles to match current vintage styles.
